This plush fish toy received mixed reactions in our home, which is fairly common with cat toys since every cat has a different personality. This is not become the favorite toy for every cat, it quickly won over two of our four cats, making it a worthwhile addition to our collection.

The biggest advantage of this toy is its size. Unlike smaller plush toys that are easy to bat around, this fish is long enough for cats to grab with their front paws while kicking with their back legs. This “bunny kick” motion is a natural hunting behavior that provides excellent physical exercise and helps indoor cats burn off excess energy. Watching a cat wrestle, hug, and kick the oversized fish is both entertaining and a great sign that the toy is keeping them mentally engaged.

One other feature that we liked about the toy is the zippered pouch that can be found inside the fish. With this, you will be able to place catnip in it once the scent has worn off and refreshes the toy’s appeal weeks or months after purchasing it. The toy comes with stuffing but it was observed that by removing some of the stuffing, you will have enough space for catnip which will make the toy more appealing for catnip-sensitive kitties.

Milo was definitely interested in the feathers, though he almost completely ignored it when it was attached to the wand. The toy felt a little too heavy, so instead of fluttering naturally like prey, it bounced and clunked around, which seemed to make playtime less exciting.

Once we removed it from the wand and simply dragged or tossed it across the floor by hand, Milo became much more engaged. The feathers still triggered his hunting instincts, and he enjoyed chasing and batting it around for short play sessions. Unfortunately, because it works best off the wand, it loses one of the main advantages of being a wand attachment.

Overall, it’s not a bad feather toy, but there are lighter and better-designed alternatives that create more realistic movement and keep cats interested for longer. If you already have it, it’s worth using as a standalone toy, but we probably wouldn’t buy it separately when there are stronger feather toy options available.

Milo genuinely enjoys working through each section, and it’s a great way to provide both mental stimulation and enrichment, especially for indoor cats.

The only reason it doesn’t earn a perfect 10/10 is that it’s heavily dependent on the type of treats you use. Small dental treats tend to disappear within seconds once your cat figures out the puzzle, making the activity much shorter than we’d like. Since Milo is limited to around 15–20 dental treats each week, we found ourselves wanting a way to make each session last longer.

Our favorite solution is using freeze-dried chicken or other single-ingredient treats. Breaking them into small flakes and scattering them throughout the different compartments extends playtime considerably while keeping the calorie count low. The flexible leaves move naturally with the slightest touch, making them feel like prey and encouraging your cat’s hunting instincts without much effort from you.

The only downside is that your beautiful plant may not stay beautiful for long. Cats can quickly chew, bend, or shred the fronds, especially if they’re energetic kittens or highly playful adults.
