I still have to scoop. We have to many cats not to. But it does remove it from sight, until I can get it cleaned out. The crystal litter does control the urine smell. Is suggest you buy the plastic pan set up to go with it. The thing can get costly buying the disposable trays for litter, and that's why I scoop. I prefer the blue litter. The lavender had an awful smell after it had urine in it. Might work for someone else, but it didn't work for us. I gave this 5 stars because it does what it is supposed to do. I still have two cats that will not use it. One was spooked after it started on her first time in there. Maybe turn it off for the first day, or so. If you buy the disposable trays you can throw away the whole thing. That's how you didn't scoop. If you have more than two cats, you must scoop the poop. It builds up under the cover flap. Your litter will not last a month. Especially if you give them plenty of water. The trays can be reused ... again that will require scooping and dumping the litter out as needed. I know... "Why did I buy a non scoop litter box to scoop it?" Because we have 8 cats. 4 inside all the time. 4 in and out. I didn't have to look at unsightly poop, and it's out of the way so it doesn't deter the cats from using the box. You're going to need a pack of litter ever 7 to 10 days with multiple cats. But it can be done. I like the litter box.

Finally! Ridiculously easy set up and changing of litter box. No smell and easy clean up. Take box out, put cover on, tape the ends, and toss in trash. With 4 cats, takes about 42 sessions to fill up. Even with so much use, I never smelled urine or feces. Now that my daughter’s cats are gone and it’s just my two, it will last so much longer! Affordable, sturdy, and I highly recommend.

This automatic cleaning cat box took some getting used to compared to clay littler. My older cat (6 yrs old) easily adapted to the crystal litter and the automation of the litter box, but my younger cat (1 yr old) didn’t like the crystals and was scared of the automatic cleaning. In total it took about a month or so to get them totally used to it. I had to mix the crystals with the PetSafe clay litter to help the transition.With two cats, I have to change the litter every two weeks maximum. After a week, I remove the poop from the compartment to elongate needing to change the litter. Getting a reusable tray and ordering bags of the crystal litter made this an economical choice. Overall I’m so happy I did this. I’m not scooping poop every night and my cats get to enjoy a clean litter box when they need to go!!Finding a furniture piece to hide the litter box was difficult due to its size. I prefer it to having the litter box out in view.

I am giving this five stars because the product itself is easy to assemble and works as advertised. Also, I love the crystal litter. It tracks far less than traditional litters. The automatic scooper works great and keeps count. Admittedly, I don’t know why one would need to know how many times it ran. Unfortunately, despite my cat having used this a few times, he was scared to death of it and started making messes in various places in my apartment, including on the couch :( I ended up giving him back his old, non automatic litter box.
