This is a fine purchase, as long as you bear in mind that you’re trading off a certain amount of durability for price. Our cats are very active—our younger boy is only about two, and a muscular 15 pounds—and neither is declawed. If yours are smaller, more sedate, and less dedicated to shredding whatever they can reach, your cat-tree may last longer.For us, this one has a life expectancy of about 6 months. The plush begins to shred; more importantly, the sturdy but very definitely hollow cardboard tubes holding up the platforms start to lose structural integrity. So—if, like us, you need something large, low-cost, and pre-fab? This is that. And our cats absolutely love it. They climb it; they play on it; they scratch it preferentially; they nap on it. They *actually* make repeated use the attached dangly toys, which no cat of mine has ever cared about, with any other piece of cat furniture. But they *do* love it to very literal pieces. And unless yours are pretty sedate—they probably will, too.It’s very stable, until it’s not—obviously, stability takes a hit, as the structural integrity of its components starts to go—but you’ll see it coming, in plenty of time to rotate it out. It holds up well, in early use, to some very intense and athletic pouncing and leaping, and general flinging-about of cat body-mass. Not a wobble to be seen.We’ve re-purchased it once, already, and likely will, again, so—burning off some intense cat energy value for money? Obviously satisfactory, for us. And: if you want something that will last forever, this may not be it for you.
